The CAF Women’s Champion’s League In Cairo,Egypt is in its group stage and Kenya’s representative,Vihiga Queen won their first match since the beginning of the tournament after beating Morrocan side Asfar, 2-0 at the Al-Salam Stadium.On Saturday, 6th November they played their first game against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns women and lost 1-0.
In both matches, Vihiga Queens scooped the woman of the match award. Their goalkeeper Lillian Awuor in the first match, and forward Tereza Engesha in their second match. They are set to play against Nigeria’s Rivers Angels on Saturday, 12th November at the 30 June Stadium at 4:00pm local time.
Their 2-1 win against Commercial Bank Ethiopia FC in the Cecafa Women’s Regional Tournament on 9th September at Kasarani Stadium, gave them a spot in the Women’s Champion League
Vihiga Queens are the four times champions in the Kenyan Women’s Premier League and also first Kenyan women’s team to advance to the Champion’s League.
