At least seven people were injured at a pork joint in komamboga, Kampala after an explosion.
According to a statement by the police, an explosion happened at around 9 pm on Saturday at an eating point.
“one person has been fatally wounded and seven others rushed to Mulango National Referral hospital with serious injuries,” the statement reads in part.
The chief political commissioner of the Uganda police, AIGP Asan Kasingye, through a tweet, alluded the explosion to a bomb.
“There was a bomb blast. Two persons a young lady and a gentleman fatally wounded and others admitted with serious injuries.” The tweet reads.
According to an eyewitness account, at least three people have so far died due to the explosion.
The dead include two ladies, one who died on the spot and another who died while receiving treatment, and a gentleman who died on his way to the hospital.
“The scene has been cordoned off, and our joint task teams from the bomb squad called to comb through the scene to determine the actual cause of the blast.” The police statement reads.
The police have not yet been able to determine the real cause of the explosion.
