The fire broke out at a little past midnight according to witnesses around Gikomba Market.
Yusuf Hassan, MP Kamukunji stated that fire burnt the Southern part of the market opposite Jua kali next to Muthurwa Primary school in Pumwani.
He also added that firefighters including KDF responded and brought the situation under control.
According to the Ministry of interior promised to set up CCTV cameras after the August fire incident.
Karanja Kibicho, Principal Secretary Interior after touring the market on August 6, gave the directive to the contractor to install the CCTV in 7 days.
“We in government do not believe these fires are natural. We believe that there are some people who think that by displacing the business people here they will have an opportunity to develop this land on selfish grounds,” said Kibicho.
“We will improve on the lighting, we have directed the regional team to map 10 lighting points and for those lights we all add CCTV cameras ” Kibicho added.
