Kenyan Boy-band sensation, Bien real name Bien-Aime’ Baraza on Friday announced on his official social handles that he landed a deal with Sol generation records for a whopping 50 Million Kenya Shillings.
The Singer posted on his Instagram; “I am beyond excited to officially join Solgenerationmusic as an artist. Mambo ya aki Bien we need a favor na kunilipa na exposure imeisha” (the times when people would call me asking for favors and ‘paying’ me with exposure are over). He Further went ahead to release his first solo project ‘MBWE MBWE’ which he has collaborated with Pianist, Band leader and radio host Aaron Rimbui.
The release comes just a month after the Boy Band Sauti Sol announced that they would be taking a break to work on individual projects. The Band is comprised of three vocalists Bien-Aime Baraza (Bien), Willis Austin (Chimano), Delvin Mudigi (Savara) and GuitaristPolycarp Otieno (Itsmefancyfingers).
News of the breakup caused a stir online forcing the group to release an open letter to fans while on their UK Tour to fans explaining why they were going on a break and embarking on a journey they dubbed ‘Alone Together’
“The tour is the beginning of our journey being “Alone Together.” It is a wonderful journey in which we are self-actualizing by showcasing our personal strengths and characters as the artists who came together from Sauti sol”. It read
The group has been making hits for close to 16 years now as the band was formed in 2005 and seeing with hits such as Lazizi, Suzanna, Short n Sweet, The sensational Midnight Train album among other hits. Another Sauti sol artist also recently his first Solo project too dubbed Father studies with a song titled ‘how I met your mama’. Still waiting on Savara and Chimano’s hits too.
