Kenyan Artists Hit Back At Eric Omondi, After Claims That The Entertainment Industry In Kenya Is Dead!

Days after an online tussle on co-parenting with Jacque Maribe his baby mama, renowned comedian Eric Omondi is yet again in the middle of another tussle with Kenyan musicians after claiming that the Industry is dead!

Eric in an interview with Radio presenter Jalang’o he called out musicians for being redundant, boring and predictable and urged them to get creative and reclaim their glory. He said in part;

“THE KENYAN ENTERTAINMENT SCENE IS DEAD!!! We have lost our Glory. We have. GENGETONE is DEAD and BURIED. Today I see @joemuchiri1 heading down to Nanyuki for the monthly AMAPIANO TOUR. We have become REDUNDANT, PREDICTABLE and BORING. We NEED to PUT in the WORK, to reclaim our GLORY we have to INVEST in our ART!!! GOD knows I am PERSONALLY TRYING my level best. The CURFEW has been LIFTED, it’s time to DUST ourselves and get to WORK. We can do it; we have all it takes to RECLAIM this lost Glory. Let’s have South Africans hosting Monthly GENGETONE festivals in Johannesburg, let’s get our Musicians Storming other COUNTRIES and CITIES every weekend. It’s time!!! ATTACK!”

Femcee Femi-one was the first to voice her opinion and it wasn’t to support his statement but to bash it, in her opinion, Eric should stick to his lane as he also tried being a musician and failed. Bien of Sauti Sol also came in to strongly disagree with the comedian calling him a clout chaser.

The legendary Jua Cali also made it clear that the industry was struggling to pick up from the effects of COVID -19 and Eric has no authority to bash it. Bahati while hitting back at Eric claimed that his wife material show corrupted his mind resulting to his recent theatrics.

In a recent post however, Eric apologized for airing his opinion in a brutally honest manner, but says his opinion still stands and called for the formulation of laws to ensure that artists are accorded 75% of airplay in local Radio Stations.

So what’s your opinion on the state of the Kenyan entertainment Industry. Is the comedian right or is he simply clout chasing.
