The prime suspect in the murder of Olympian Agnes Tirop will remain in police custody for 20 more days awaiting the conclusion of investigations.
Ibrahim Rotich who was the husband to the deceased Olympian was arraigned before Magistrate Charles Kutwa in Eldoret, where the prosecution sought more time to detain him while undergoing investigation.
Rotich will be detained at Railways Police Station in Eldoret, as he also undergoes a mental assessment at Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The case will be mentioned on November 9. Agnes Tirop was found dead and injured at her lower abdomen at her home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Her husband was nowhere to be found after the incident, but he was arrested at Changamwe Mombasa trying to flee out of the country to evade justice.
