A Kenya Revenue Authority staff (KRA) has died after being attacked by a swarm of bees at the Redbrick area in Majengo, Mombasa county.
In the Saturday, December 11 incident, John Muthine Mutwiri, an investigation and enforcement officer at KRA was driving a Subaru Forester en route to Majengo.
According to a police report seen by trendstv.co.ke, he was in the company of Commanding Officers Hezekiel Gikambi and Maurice Kinyua.
Suddenly, a swarm of bees entered their vehicle and they alighted to get safety outside. They all ran in different directions.
However, Mutwiri was overwhelmed by the bee stings and fell at a nearby garage owned by Mwaruwa Chikophe.
Chikophe immediately got a Tuk Tuk and rushed him to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Mutwiri was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was transferred to the hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
Police officers from Makupa Police Station rushed to the scene and took appropriate action.
